K. M. Vaeth


Brief Biography

Kathleen M. Vaeth earned her BS from Cornell University, where she was a Kodak Fellow, and her her Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she was a Hertz Fellow. Currently, she is Senior Enginering R&D Manager at Qualitrol Corporation. Previously, she was Director at OLEDWorks, in Rochester, New York, and Senior Lecturer at the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Cornell University. Prior to her Cornell appointment she was Vice President of Engineering at microGen Systems and a senior research scientist at the Research Laboratories of the Eastman Kodak Company.

At the Eastman Kodak Research Laboratories she distinguished herself for her work on organic light emitting diodes (OLED), MEMS, and microfluidics. At microGen Systems, her work was centered on the development of piezoelectric energy harvesters for wireless sensors. During her tenure at the Eastman Kodak Company she was part of the team that demonstrated spatial and spectral coherent emission from pulsed electrically-excited interferometric devices powered by coumarin laser dye-doped OLEDs. She is the author of some 20 journal publications and 30 US Patents. In 2021 she was elected a Fellow of Optica.
